Dress Code Policy
Effective 03/05/18 (Rev. 03/31/23)
Included in Team Member Manual under “What the Bank Expects from Team Members”
The Bank has adopted a Business Casual dress code that is intended to give a professional, uniform and businesslike impression. A neat, tasteful appearance contributes to the positive impression you make on our customers. All Team Members are expected to be suitably attired and groomed during working hours or whenever representing UNIFIED BANK. A good clean appearance bolsters your own poise and self-confidence and greatly enhances our Bank image. Unless specifically prohibited under applicable law, all Team Members are required to comply with all portions of this policy.
The Bank currently provides all newly hired Team Members with a total of seven (7) approved UNIFIED BANK apparel items. In addition, the Bank also currently provides each Team Member with one (1) approved UNIFIED BANK Blue T-shirt, and one (1) approved UNIFIED BANK Hoodie. These T-shirts and Hoodies are to be worn at seasonally appropriate Community Events, sponsored by the Bank. With the exception of UNIFIED Maintenance personnel, T-shirts and Hoodies are not permitted during work hours and will not be accepted as Business Casual apparel.
The approved UNIFIED BANK apparel will be provided to you through our online ordering system, from our approved vendor. This is the only authorized logo apparel permitted that meets our UNIFIED brand standards. This vendor works closely with our Bank management team to ensure consistency. No other variations are permitted to be worn.
The available apparel selections and options for you to choose from are shown through the online ordering site. The website information will be provided to all Team Members during the orientation process, by the UNIFIED BANK Human Resource Department.
The apparel selections on the site include The UNIFIED Oxford style button-up shirt in Blue, White and Gray, The UNIFIED Sweater, Vest and Cardigan in UNIFIED Blue or Gray, and the approved UNIFIED Polo-style, Short-sleeve shirt in Blue, White and Gray. Other approved logo items may be added at the discretion of Senior Management.
The Bank shirt MUST be paired with Dress Slacks, Khaki (Docker-style) Pants, Chino Pants, or Knee-Length Skirts/Dresses. Jeans/Denim Pants are never permitted, regardless of color or style. Cargo Pants, Capri Pants, Shorts, Yoga Pants, Lounge Pants, Sweat Pants, Leggings or Exercise Stretch Pants of any kind are NOT permitted and will not be accepted as Business Casual attire. Oxford and Polo style shirts should always be tucked in.
Females and Males are expected to wear appropriate business-like dress shoes. Sandals, Sneakers, Crocs and Flip Flops are never permitted as acceptable footwear, (unless an accommodation has been requested, supported by written notice from a doctor, because of a medical condition). Males are expected to always wear a belt and dress socks with their dress shoes. White socks are not permitted.
Females wearing a UNIFIED Blue or Gray Vest, must wear either a UNIFIED Blue, White or Gray Oxford shirt or a white collared Oxford style shirt beneath. Females wearing a UNIFIED Blue or Gray Sweater or Cardigan may wear a UNIFIED Blue, White or Gray Oxford shirt or a white Oxford style shirt beneath. For females, any other garment worn beneath the Sweater or Cardigan must be white. Males wearing a UNIFIED Blue or Gray Sweater, Vest or Cardigan, must wear a UNIFIED Blue, White or Gray Oxford shirt or a white collared Oxford style shirt beneath.
The Business Casual attire, with UNIFIED BANK apparel, must be worn by all hourly (non-exempt) and supervisor level team members Monday through Saturday. Business Casual apparel is to be worn by all salaried (exempt) level Team Members UNLESS attending business appointments, conferences, or when meeting with customers. In such circumstances, Formal Business Attire is expected to be worn. Formal Business Attire for females is defined as knee-length, (or longer) dresses/skirts, dress slacks or business suits with a presentable blouse and/or sweater. Females must wear appropriate businesslike dress shoes. Formal Business Attire for males is defined as a suit, or dress jacket and slacks, with a fully buttoned, collared dress shirt and tie. Males must wear dress socks, dress shoes and a belt. White socks, sleeveless shirts and tank tops are not permitted for either females or males. (It is understood that there may be situations for salaried (exempt level) Team Members where formal business attire may not be appropriate. In these situations, you must use your best judgement.)
Salaried (exempt) level Team Members may choose to wear a suit or dress type jacket with the UNIFIED Business Casual apparel.
After the initial order of seven (7) apparel items, the Bank will provide an annual $125 allowance to each Team Member to purchase additional apparel from our approved vendor, usually sometime during the spring months. These items will either add to your Bank wardrobe or replace worn out items.
All articles of clothing must be clean, neatly pressed, free of any holes and not torn. Tattoos must be covered at all times. Reasonably sized, tasteful earrings are permitted for earlobes. Facial piercings, tongue piercings and gauges are not permitted. Likewise, other than earlobes, no body piercings may be visible.
Customer Service Representatives and Customer Service Supervisors are required to wear Unified Name Badges provided by the Bank.
All Team Members must keep their hair clean and neatly groomed, with a conservative hairstyle. Fad hairstyles are discouraged.
Personal appearance should be a matter of concern for each Team Member. If your Supervisor/Manager determines that your attire/appearance is out of place, you may be asked to leave until you are properly attired. You will not be paid for the time you are off the job for this purpose. Your Supervisor/Manager has authorization to determine if you are in violation of the appropriate dress code. Any Team Member that violates this standard will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Gum chewing is discouraged. Food must be limited to break areas and kept out of view from customers. Likewise, drinks must be kept out of view from customers.
